Why a collective
Nobody does this alone. Neither do we.
The week after September 11, I came home to Ohio on the train. My best friend, his girlfriend, and Alison picked me up at the station and took me home. Nobody made a speech. I didn’t have a word for that then. Now I call it infrastructure. Nobody builds it the week they need it.
148
studies, 308,849 people: stronger relationships meant a 50% higher likelihood of survival
1938
the year the Harvard study began. Relationships at fifty predicted health at eighty better than cholesterol did
200
hours together to turn an acquaintance into a close friend. Nobody shortcuts it
I started endurance racing alone and stayed for the people. Every hundred-mile finish I have has a crew behind it. The partners on this page are that crew for the people I work with: chosen on purpose, each doing what they are trained to do, and known well enough that I would hand them someone I care about.
Partners, friends, relationships. They are the infrastructure of a life. It is no different here.
How the Collective works
Everyone reads what they are trained to read.
The physician
reads the data.
The coach
reads the life.
The advisor
reads the balance sheet.
The client
owns the portfolio.
Partners come in when the work calls for one, by introduction, and never around the advisor or the client. The division of labor stays explicit.
